A developer must understand programming languages in order to develop applications or websites. Programming language is a language in the form of code or commands that computers can understand.
There are many programming languages in this world, of course, developers don’t use all existing programming languages. They only use programming languages that suit the needs of the application to be made.
The first programming language in history began when a German scientist named Konrad Zuse. He created a binary calculator machine in 1935 called the Z-1 which contained only a collection of 0’s and 1’s.
While developing his latest calculator engine, Zuse realized that the programming language he was making was relatively low-level. In 1945, the world’s first high-level programming language, PlanKalKul, created the world’s first computer chess engine.
In 1956, Fortran or Formula Translation is a programming language that was developed by John Backus at IBM. A company that sells computer hardware and software.
The advantage of the Fortran programming language is that it excels in handling forms of computation, including complex calculations and the weakness of this programming language. That it has limitations in expressing and processing numeric data.
Java Programming Language
Java is a fairly popular programming language because this programming language can be used on various platforms from PCs to even mobile devices.
The naming of name of this programming language is taken from the English word from the island of Java. The founder, James Gosling, who really likes pure coffee, is on the island of Java, Indonesia.
The advantage of this programming language is that it is included in OOP or Project Oriented Programming. It has many libraries making it easier for programmers to compile programs using this language. The disadvantages of this programming language are that it takes up a lot of memory and the Graphic User Interface (GUI) is less attractive.
C Programming Language
The C language was developed in the 70’s by Dennis Ritchie. C language is considered the “father” of programming languages because it is the oldest in the world.
Many universities that have IT majors use this programming language for the first time before learning other programming languages because it is the easiest to learn for beginners.
This programming language can also be used on various platforms such as Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android, and so on. This programming language was also quite fast when used with machines and is still used today.
The latest version of this programming language is version C18 which was released in June 2018 which is the version that has become the standard till date.

Visual Basic
This programming language is a programming language developed by Microsoft. Therefore, this programming language was developed to create software based on the Windows operating system.
The existence of Visual Basic existed in 1991. Since it was first introduced, there have been 9 versions of Visual Basic. However, in 2002 Microsoft introduced Visual Basic Net 1.0 with a full version and a rewritten design.
Visual Basic or commonly known as VB is also an object-oriented programming languages and automatic coding. VB also includes various visual tools so that it’s not just a programming languages but can also be used to create advanced applications. Unfortunately, nowadays many developers are leaving VB as their programming language because it is considered old-fashioned.
The downside of this programming language is that it cannot directly handle pointers, which is very crucial. It requires a lot of time to be generated causing the application to slow down.
Python
Python language is an easy programming language because it is easy to read with an easy-to-understand syntax.
Many companies use Python to develop their applications such as Instagram, Pinterest, Google, Yahoo, and NASA.
The name Python which Guido Van Rossum gave the programming languages in 1990 was derived from the title of the developer’s television program.
The benefit of Python is that it has a huge number of standard libraries which makes it simple to perform many complex functions. Meanwhile, the weakness is that Python is quite slow to run and has limited data access.
