Today, almost everyone from all over the world has an internet connection at home or at work. The internet has become an important service to help work or just exchange and find information. One of the most complete information providers today we can get by browsing the browser.
With its many features and functions and has benefits for its users. However, we often forget that from the use of the internet, especially browsers, it is very potential for our data privacy to become a threat that will ultimately be very detrimental to us as users.
Therefore, it is important to always maintain data privacy security, one of which is choosing a browser service that is safe when used and prevents our data from being tracked and even sold by third parties.
Continuing from the previous blog post, we provide browser with the best security level in 2022 part 2. Here are some of them:
Avast Secure Browser
Avast Secure Browser is a cross-platform browser, released by Avast which is one of the most popular antivirus software and has no doubt its performance for almost all operating systems.
Avast Secure Browser is one of the few browsers that has a built-in VPN feature, although unlike Opera’s which offers this feature for free, this built-in VPN from Avast is priced at $5.99 per month, and if you sign up for a longer commitment then can get a discount.
In addition to the built-in VPN features, Avast Secure Browser also comes with built-in anti-phishing, password manager, and ad-blocking features. The Cover Your Tracks test from EFF reports that Avast has strong tracking protection despite its unique (traceable) fingerprint profile. This Chromium-based Avast browser runs well and is compatible with most sites.
Brave
Brave is a free and open-source web browser first released in 2019 by Brave Software.Inc. This browser is known for its good level of security because it focuses on blocking ads and tracking websites, however, you can earn cryptocurrency when using this browser.
Brave also relies on a code-compliant version of Chromium to support Google Chrome making it compatible with most websites.
In tests conducted Cover Your Tracks from EFF reported that this browser has strong protection against Web tracking and has a Shields feature to block cookies and third-party tracking ads by default.
Bromite
Bromite is a browser that is only available for android, and unlike most browsers, Bromite does not have a Chromium base which means this browser will not be found on Google Playstore and you must allow APK installation in your Android settings for Bromite.
For those of you who always prioritize data privacy, Bromite can be one of the best choices because it has a safe, fast system, and offers a Self-Fingerprint Mitigation Test Page.
Epic Privacy Browser
Epic Privacy Browser was developed by a software company, Hidden Flex. Like most other browsers, Epic Privacy uses the Chromium source code and is one of the few browsers that prioritizes user privacy.
This cross-platform browser also features built-in VPN functionality with an encrypted proxy that can hide a user’s IP address from the Web at large and can block ads, trackers, crypto mining, and ultrasound signaling.
Unfortunately, on testing with EFF’s Cover Your Tracks tool, Epic only had partial protection against tracking ads and invisible trackers on EPC with default settings. But when you use Epic’s umbrella button to activate the default version of uBlock, the result is increased to “strong protection” against Web trackers.
Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge is a browser developed by the most prominent software company in the world, namely Microsoft, which also created Windows which is the most popular operating system and with the most users.
Microsoft Edge was created with the aim of prioritizing user privacy when browsing the browser along with customization and productivity features such as collections as Web research.
Edge offers three levels of tracking protection: Basic, Balanced, and Strict. Of all these levels of protection, it can block cryptomining and fingerprint trackers.
Through the Cover Your Tracks test from EFF, Microsoft Edge got the result of “strong protection against Web tracking”, but the fingerprint only got “unique” which means it can still be tracked.
