  • Accelerate Digitalization through Digital Talent

    Accelerate Digitalization through Digital Talent

The digital ‘era’ is surely nothing new. As the world now slowly recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone talks about digitalization again. So, what makes it become a new trend again if the digital part is not new? the answer is pace.

The pace of adopting technology is a very crucial part. After the emergence of the virus, everyone needs to stand on their own feet before another disruption came to rise.

Organizations or businesses must adapt and change now. Let’s take a look at Indonesia, how they take advantage of pandemics to adopt technological change.

    Digitalization Pace in Indonesia

As the government began to push Indonesia towards the digital era, many elements support this decision. From state-owned enterprises, startups, and other businesses have already adopted technology on their system.

The development of digital talent is also very important, as the adoption began to roll out. To fulfill the digital needs, Indonesia through KOMINFO created Digital Talent Scholarships. It is a way to grow digital talent and give them the needed skills for the industries.

The digital transformation process is not always going smoothly. Indonesia is facing great challenges from its people. Not many are aware of the importance of digital talent. A better promotion strategy is enough to solve this problem.

Aside from that, Indonesia is still focusing on building a better infrastructure to support digitalization. If this challenge can be solved, Indonesia can take advantage will be the biggest digital economy in Southeast Asia.

Startup Role on Accelerating Digital Transformation

To help Indonesia reach digital transformation, other elements like startups play an important role. Many startups in Indonesia are built based on technological advantage. They try to streamline business processes and deliver faster service.

Some businesses are also struggling to adapt the technological change due to a lack of digital talent. they are facing a dilemma to recruit professionals or train their workers with digital skills. Thankfully the roadmap of digital transformation is already there.

  • The Challenge of Digital Talent Growth in Indonesia

The Challenge of Digital Talent Growth in Indonesia

Development in connectivity and computing power, along with technology enhancements, redefines the way people interact. Even if the technology is available, not all countries have access to it. Some countries still lack focus on digital talent growth.

Despite having almost 274 million in population, Indonesia is still lacking digital talent to support digitalization. To measure the digitalization process in Indonesia, studies say it is still in the nascent stage of digitalization. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesia is showing great progress on digital transformation.

Not long before the pandemic happened, Indonesia has put their concern on the importance of digital talent. Not only that, but Indonesia is also focusing on investing and developing digital technology infrastructure. Without these, the digitalization process will be slow

Another stimulus to accelerate digitalization is through state-owned enterprises, businesses, and startups. Adapting technological change and using the right tech will help the process. The government is also putting effort into digital talent growth through scholarships and local startups.

    Digital Talent Scholarship by KOMINFO

The Ministry of Communication and Information or KOMINFO created a Digital Talent Scholarship to increase the number of digital talent in Indonesia. KOMINFO team up with many well-known universities in Indonesia to reach as many people as across the country.

This scholarship was first initiated in 2018 and still going until now. It is 3-months of training and it has many classes and expertise. What’s cool about this scholarship is it is free.

On the HR Tech Summit Indonesia 2021, spokesperson from KOMINFO is also present and said that the Digital Talent Scholarship is an effort to increase digital talent in Indonesia. They also stated that all classes are based on real-world needs, like digital banking. So all graduates from this scholarship can compete and perform well.

Unfortunately, the majority of these students are on Java Island. KOMINFO said that they keep improving the infrastructure and promoting this scholarship. But until then, it is still a challenge for KOMINFO and others to promote the importance of digital talent.

    Startup’s Role on Improving Skills

We can say that Indonesia has many startups and it is great for increasing digital talent. Almost every startup is going in digital directions. This is due to improving services to customers and streamlining their businesses.

Even with many startup companies, the need for digital talent is still high. Not many startups are nurturing their digital talent, but recruiting others for digital positions. It is still hard for newcomers and fresh graduates to be digital talent because of the job requirements.

Luckily, one of the Indonesian Startups is aware of this. Through their event called HR Tech Summit Indonesia 2021, Sagara Technology is ready to unleash the digital potential in Indonesia. Attended by many experts from different backgrounds, Sagara hopes that all elements can cooperate to increase Digital Talent Growth in Indonesia. To watch the full event, click here.

  • Software as a Service Impact on Software Industry

Software as a Service Impact on Software Industry

Remember when every software you want is on a disk? You have to buy the disk and install it on your computer to use the software. But the thing is it can only be used on that one computer. While cloud computing becomes a thing, the software company is also changing by using Software as a Service (SaaS).

The advanced development of cloud computing fundamentally change how the software industry operates. By hosting their software, software companies can cut the cost of using disk to install and transfer to SaaS.

One of the SaaS products that are commonly used is Office 365, where you can open your file on multiple devices. But why do many software companies change their service by using SaaS?

Reasons of using Software as a Service for companies

There are many reasons why Individual Software Vendor (ISV) is moving towards SaaS. Not only it benefits the company, but customers can feel the benefits of SaaS. By looking at the benefits, it can tell clearly why ISV is transferring to SaaS. And here are some benefits of using Software as a Service:

Expanding the market and acquire new customers

The software company that develops SaaS versions of their software, can offer a lot to customers. By having SaaS products, ISV can sell to a more customer base and unlock new segments. this is because SaaS offer cheaper cost and ease of use on multiple devices.

    Reduce Cost and Complexity

One of the SaaS benefits is cheaper to maintain. Using unified infrastructure helps customer to lower their cost on the operation. Other than that, customers can relieve themselves of the complexity of their hardware infrastructure and the compatibility issues.

    Integration on Cloud Services

The integration on Cloud Service means the customer is gaining more value. Cloud platform ecosystem brings minimal integration and less requirement to use. Many companies using SaaS can add more features and capabilities to their products.

Customers Ask for Software as a Service

The customer is always looking for a fast and reliable product. With many devices lingering around, cross-platform become a basic requirement of a product. This means the customer can access their data anywhere and anytime.

    SaaS Impact on Software Industries

Looking at the many benefits above, many companies have to shift their product to SaaS. ISV don’t have to transfer all their product on SaaS, but they can make a version it. By using SaaS products, ISV can compete in the market and helps Cloud Computer development.

  • Easy Copywriting Formula for Your Business (Psst, Just 3 Steps!)

Creating killer copywriting for business is hard. But killer copywriting obey one formula: PAS. You can learn to make great copywriting by practicing this formula.

Why is it important? Well, copywriting takes a huge role in digital marketing. Copywriting is a way that is able to persuade the readers to take actions you (your business) want. For example, buy a product, use a service, subscribe to a newsletter, and so forth.

Someone who works in this field is called a copywriter.

    What is the copywriting formula?

As I stated earlier, the timeless copywriting formula is PAS. PAS stands for Problem, Agitation, Solution.

    Problem

Knowing the problem is the first thing of solving anything. When doing copywriting, you need to layout the problem faced by your readers. By doing so, you let them know that your business is aware of what they have been through.

It will be easier to get to know products or services from a business that knows you, won’t it?

    For example:
“Want to be fluent in Spanish but you don’t know where to take lessons?”

    Agitation

The next formula is agitation. After realizing the problem, now it is time to stir things up. This part is kind of tricky because you need to make the problem more painful and the readers more emotional, yet you also do not want them to be discouraged.

Show them that there is a way out.

    For example:
“No tutoring near your house? Or having trouble choosing which is the best?”

Read More — 3 Reasons Why You Need Content Writing

    Solution

The last part is the solution. After laying out the problem and agitating it, introduce the solution. This is the time for you to show your products or services.

    For example:
“Don’t worry, you can learn from home now! SPANISH FRIENDS has helped 100 people speak Spanish fluently. Check out their testimonials here!”

Here is the example of copywriting as a whole using the PAS Formula:

“Want to be fluent in Spanish but you don’t know where to take lessons?

No tutoring near your house? Or having trouble choosing which is the best?

Don’t worry, you can learn from home now! SPANISH FRIENDS has helped 100 people speak Spanish fluently. Check out their testimonials here!”

Below is another example as you can see on the current homepage of Sagara Technology.

Application of copywriting formula on Sagara's current homepage
Application of copywriting formula on Sagara’s current homepage

Go Big with Sagara — Problems

Plan, build, grow digital products. continuously delivering impact — Agitation

    Consult now — Solution

That’s all the copywriting formula for your business and the examples. Now it is your turn to try this formula!

  • Internet of Things vs Artificial Intelligence, What is the difference?

Internet of Things vs Artificial Intelligence, What is the difference?

The rapid development of technology is cool, yet challenging. It starts with basic things like smartphones, laptops, or even tablets. There are also smarter technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) that changes our life and business.

Everyone needs to learn and adapt this technology in order to keep up with the technological change. It is not easy to adapt to new things, especially technology. But let’s not forget that technology like the Internet of Things brings a lot of benefits when we use it right.

Before using IoT or AI, we need to know the difference and the limitation of these technologies. This will help us identify the right technology for our needs.

So What is Internet of Things?

Well, in simple terms IoT means computers or devices that communicating over the internet. This devices send information on the web thus create an ecosystem of shared data to execute certain task.

Internet of Things can be found in business such as farming and manufacturing. Basicaly IoT makes everything “smart” by emmbeding simple technology like television or toaster with sensors. So these device can be controlled from the Internet.

There is a lot to offer from using IoT. It makes device more convenience and efficient to use. Large-scale application of IoT is already here, like monitoring environmental condition. To get a better grasp of Iot you can read more aboutIoT here.

    Difference between IoT and AI

For starters, AI is the ability of computer to learn and process robust datasets and perform actions like problem-solving. It is like how we learning from mistake and experience, but in computer world, this “mistake” or “experience” is based on data.

From Siri to YouTube recommendation is some example of AI. Even though it is still narrow in function, but the development in AI is rapid. We can expect AI to do many thing in the future as researchers developing General AI.

And what is the difference between IoT and AI?

While IoT is meant for embedding technology with sensors to communicate each other via internet, AI is the expansion of it. For instance, device that use Internet of Things are instructed with code to operate. To expands it’s capability like collecting data and learn, this is where AI kicks in.

To make it simple, this 5 attribute can explain more about IoT and AI difference.
